Mr. George Alusa Kichamu
 

Mr Kichamu is a Kenyan born in 1956. He is married and has 3 children. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Population Studies (Demography) and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nairobi, and Certificate in Project Management, University of Connecticut, Certificate in Family Planning Management, University of California, USA and a Certificate in Communication, Makerere University, Uganda.The Officer joined the National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) in1989 as a Senior Population Officer/District Population Officer in charge of Population programs coordination and monitoring in the then Western Province.

The officer has risen the ranks through the years and is currently the Director, Technical Services and Acting Director General at NCPD. Mr Kichamu has co-authored a number of Key Survey Reports: a) ‘Kenya Service Provision Assessment Survey (KSPA), 1999, 2010’; b) ‘Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS), 1998, 2003, 2008/9’; c) “Health and Disability”, in ‘Kenya National Survey for Persons with Disabilities (KNSPWDs)’, 2007, d) “Prevalence and Trends of HIV and AIDS, 2007” and “Knowledge Attitudes and Beliefs About HIV/AIDS KAIS, 2012” in ‘Kenya AIDS Indicator Survey (KAIS)’, and e) ‘The 2009 Census Monograph on Persons with Disabilities’. The Officer is one of the key people involved in the development and dissemination of Kenya’s Population Policy for National Development 2012. The Policy has acknowledged the challenges posed by the elderly population in Kenya and the measures that need to be taken to address them
