Mr. Mujahed Ahmed Al-Sha’ab
 

Mujahed was born in Yemen in 1961 and began his career in 1990 as Head of Population Section in Population Studies and Researches Center. From 1993 to 1999 he worked as Researcher in Population at the Technical Secretariat of National Population Council (NPC-TS). Since 1999 up to now, he has been working as G. Director of Population Information, Education and Communication Department (IEC) and The National Project Manager of European Commission's Assistance to The NPC in the field of Population IEC.

Mujahed has years of experience in population studies and researches and has participated in all important scientific and awareness population events that have taken place in Yemen during the last 22 years. He was a field supervisor in Health Demographic Surveys 1992 and 1997 and in the 1994 Census, partook in data analyzing of surveys and Censuses., participated actively in all National Population Conferences, taken place in 1991, 1996, 2002 and 2007 as researcher and member of committee and technical task force, He also worked closely with experts and specialists in all steps of preparation and updating the National Population Policy, Action Plan and National Population IEC Strategy in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2005 and 2007.

Mujahed represented his country alone and with others, in several regional population events such as: Regional Conference of ICPD beyond 2014, Cairo, 2013, Population Policy Conference in the Arab Word, ESCWA, Amman, 2006, Population Policy and Migration Conference, ESCWA, Beirut, 1999, Population Arab Experts Meeting, ESCWA, Amman, 1996. At the National level, he participated in many population conferences seminars and workshops as lecturer and trainer and provided lectures on Population Growth, Demographic Trends, Urbanization, Housing, Migration, Population and Development, Population IEC, Population Policy, etc.

Mujahed is a population researcher. Individually and along with other authors he has studied and researched issues concerning the Yemen population – some published by relevant National and Regional Agencies such as: National Population Council, Arab League and ESCWA.

Mujahed has a Masters in Sociology and Demography from the University of Tunis in 1989 and 1991; Population and Development Diploma from Cairo Demographic Center in 1994; Advance Training in Development Communication, John Hopkins University, Communication Center, Beirut, 2000; and Three Months Training on Social Research Methods, American University – Cairo Social Research Center, 2012.
