Dr. Shafqat Jawaid Sheikh
 

Dr. Shafqat Jawaid Sheikh, basically a Clinician turned out to be a Public Health Specialist with versatile experience of Health and Population sector is presently working as Director General, Population Program Wing, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination at the National level at Islamabad. Dr. Shafqat having the vast experience as a Health Manager has earlier contributed in the formulation of National Health Policy and subsequently when engaged with Ministry of Population Welfare, played pivotal role to formulate Population Policy including framing Guidelines on all other important Social Sector Issues.

Presently, he is also the member of important National Task Force, Working Group and Technical Advisory Committee at the Federal Level.
Among his credentials, he has been Director and Deputy Director General of all public health issues, Medical Education & Research, Medical Facilities, Legislation on Health and Reproductive Health. He has also held portfolios of being Director (Population Education, Family Welfare Centre, Clinical Training and Technical Coordination with local and international champions of Health and Population Sector. He has also worked as the National Project Director on Breast Cancer Screening Program including National Focal Point for WHO on Persons with Disabilities, Injury Prevention and Violence.

Dr. Shafqat Jawaid Sheikh has tremendous potentials to spearhead National and International issues because he has not only native but also the international exposure and experience. He is throughout foreign qualified and possesses the Master Degree on Public Health Management, Doctor of Medicine and among other capacity building courses like Advance level National Health Development Course for the Senior Officers from Tokyo, Japan.

His mainstay, area of interest is to work for the poor of the poorest, marginalized, underprivileged, and hard to reach, the voiceless, the neglected and deprived grassroots communities. Least but not the last to help disabled, who want to live with dignity and glory for maintaining quality & standards of life with the bear minimum basic and development needs with high human feelings for the natives and wish the same for all others, who fall in this category and without any prejudice, inequity, gender and other all sort of discrimination of color and race. Dr. Shafqat Sheikh after being nominated as Commissioner from Pakistan, has the reinvigorated passion to give valuable inputs and impetus for the rehabilitation/welfare of the most needed and valued fragment of the society i-e Elderly of the world in general and Senior Citizens of Pakistan in particular.
