Dr. Tim Mainakaya
 

Dr. Timothy Ndubisi Menakaya former minister of health federal republic of Nigeria. Was born on 27th of May 1936 at umunya in Oyi local government in Anambra state. He qualified in medicine and surgery at the University of Bolgna, Italy in 1964 with an M.D degree.

He attended Denisse Memorial Grammar School Onitsha for his west African certificate. He is a fellow of medical college in general practice (FMCGP), fellow of West African college of physicians (FWACP) and fellow of general and private medical practitioners of Nigeria.
He practiced medicine in Italy and United Kingdom before coming back to Nigeria in 1966. Served as a medical officer in eastern Nigeria and it's central state. He also worked with the Roman Catholic arc diocese of Onitsha in charge of Holy Rosary Maternity hospital and St Charles Borromeo Hospital Onitsha.

He established his own hospital, Menax Hospital Onitsha from where he was appointed minister of health federal republic of Nigeria. He held the following appointments: chairman of tempo mills limited, chairman of tempo farms limited, chairman of board of governors Dennis memorial grammar school Onitsha, chairman of finance committee of Anglican diocese on the Niger, national president of Dennis memorial grammar school old boys association Onitsha, board of governors Iyo Enuh hospital, rotary of blind students Anambra state and many others.

Honours received :patron of private and general medical practitioners of Nigeria, patron of Anambra state doctors association, Anambra government merit award, merit award for excellence and distinguished service to the Nigerian medical association Anambra state, honored by rotary international Oka and Enugu, honored by Oka chambers of commerce, industry, mines and agriculture.

Dr Menakaya is a knight of St Christopher (KAC), justice of peace, officer of the order of the federal republic (OFR) . Dr Menakaya is married to bar Ogo Tim-Menakaya and has children.
