We are glad that many of you have already confirmed your participation. We would greatly appreciate receiving confirmation at the earliest convenience, whoever have not confirmed your participation as yet. Kindly note that confirmation of your participation requires (1) Completed Registration through the above link (2) send scanned Passport Copy, Travel Itinerary, and Colored Photograph at 20iimc-icpd30@ppdsec.org. The documents and information are essentially required for the Government of Zimbabwe for obtaining administrative clearances, arranging necessary logistics, such as retaining the hotel reservation, airport pick-up on arrival and drop-off on arrival and departure.

Please make sure that your flight destination is directly to the VICTORIA FALLS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

AIRPORT TRANSFER AND HOTEL TO CONFERENCE VENUE

The event will take place in Elephant Hills Resort. The name of the Airport in Victoria Falls is Victoria Falls International Airport. Distance from Airport to the Hotel is approximately 24 km. It will take around 25 minutes to reach depending on the traffic. The complementary airport pick-up and drop-off on arrival and departure will be provided by the Zimbabwean Government, subject to receipt of the confirmed travel itineraries well in advance.

INSURANCE

Participants are advised to obtain their own insurance coverage for sickness, accident (including the cost of medical attention), temporary or permanent disability, death, injury and third-party risks, covering the entire duration of the meeting including travel time. PPD would not be responsible for any such costs nor would it have any liability whatsoever.

 

VISA

All the delegates are requested to secure their Zimbabwe Visa before traveling to the country.

Please note that participants are responsible to obtain all visas to destination including the transit points if necessary before departure, and airlines may not allow boarding without a valid visa.

Zimbabwe has 3 visa categories:

All Categories need: -

  • Passport valid for a least 6 months from your date of entry.
  • Return ticket to your country (or enough money to buy one)
  • Sufficient funds to cover your stay in Zimbabwe
  • Enough blank pages in your passport to fit the required entry visa

Category A: Countries whose nationals do NOT require a Visa. No action required, you will be granted easy entry at any border post.

Category B: Countries whose nationals are granted a Zimbabwe visa at the port of entry on payment of requisite visa fees. These visas are easiest obtained on your arrival at the Airport or border post.

Category C: Countries whose nationals are required to apply for and obtain a Zimbabwe visa prior to travelling. You can apply for one through a Zimbabwe High Commission in your home or neighboring country. What are the Zimbabwe Visa Types?

Single Entry visa allows for entry into Zimbabwe one time. Once you exit Zimbabwe, the visa cannot be used again.

Double Entry visa allows for up to two entries into Zimbabwe. Valid up to 90 days from the date of issue. Once you have used it for the two entries and two exits, the visa cannot be used again.

Multiple Entry visas - CANNOT be obtained at the port of entry into Zimbabwe. You may enter Zimbabwe on a single entry visa and then obtain a Multiple Entry Visa from the town office – but this may take up to 7 working days to be issued.

How Much are the Visa Fees?

Visitors coming from Category B countries (listed below) can pay the fee for their visa when they arrive at the port of entry, whether it is at the land border or at the airport. Category C nationals who applied for a visa online will pay for the visa during the online application.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE FACILITIES

Zimbabwe use the multi-currency system with most of the transactions in Victoria falls paid in US dollars either by cash or debit cards. Most currencies can be exchanged at banks and bureau de change with big hotels accepting foreign bank cards.

 

COMMUNICATION SERVICES

Zimbabwe has three licensed GSM network operators, Econet Wireless, NetOne and Telecel Participants can obtain SIM cards upon arrival at the airport.

Free Wi-Fi internet accesses available in the conference rooms as well as in private rooms and the other public areas of the hotel.

 

POWER VOLTAGE

There are two associated plug types D and G. Plug type D has three round pins in a triangular pattern and plug type G is the plug which has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. Zimbabwe operates on a 240V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Throughout October, in the average 3.5 rainfall days, it receives 6mm (0.24″) of precipitation. In Victoria Falls, during the entire year, the rain falls for 113.3 days and collects up to 457mm (17.99″) of precipitation.

Take special precautions, as unprotected skin can be damaged and can burn quickly. The Sun’s UV radiation is most powerful between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. To the extent possible, limit exposure to the direct sun during these hours. Sun-protective clothing, a long-sleeved shirt and pants, a wide-brimmed hat, and UVA and UVB-blocking sunglasses are particularly helpful in blocking UV radiation’s harmful effects. SECURITY

The conference organizers will take measures to ensure the safety and security of all delegates. Security personnel will be on-site throughout the conference, and access to the venue will be restricted to registered delegates.

Local time in Zimbabwe is GMT +2 hours

 

LANGUAGE

Simultaneous translation from English to French and French to English will be provided during the conference.

 

YELLOW FEVER CERTIFICATE

It is a requirement of all International travellers, especially those journeying from yellow fever risk countries to show proof of yellow fever vaccination by means of a valid yellow fever certificate. This also applies to those who have transited through a yellow fever risk country. The certificates should be administered at yellow fever approved vaccination centre at least 10 days before departure to Zimbabwe, as the vaccine only offers protection 10 days after administration. Failure to produce a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate at a Rwanda port of entry could lead to refusal of entry.
