Stephen Owusu Kwankye is Associate Professor at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana, Legon. He is also a member of the Inter-Faculty Working Group of the Centre for Migration Studies (CSM) at the University of Ghana. He is a Demographer by training and holds a PhD in Population Studies. He is currently on secondment to the National Population Council (NPC) Secretariat, Accra, Ghana as its Executive Director.

He worked with CMS, a National Migration Policy for Ghana that is awaiting adoption by the government. In 2012, he lectured at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons on the theme “Growing Old in Ghana: The Health and Economic Implications”. His areas of research and publications include migration (particularly child migration), population and development interrelationships, fertility and adolescent/youth reproductive health and demographic data collection.
