The UNFPA Representative to Bangladesh Ms. Asa Torkelson is leaving Bangladesh after successful completion of her assignment in Bangladesh. Today, Tuesday, 12 October 2021, she paid a farewell visit to PPD Secretariat, met and had a very cordial discussion with PPD Executive Director Mr. Adnene Ben Haj Aissa. She is being transferred to Malaysia to look after the UNFPA Programs in Malaysia and Thailand. Both the UNFPA Representative and PPD Executive Director exchanged heartfelt thanks and gratitude for close collaboration between the organizations in the areas of common interest, such as, promotion of South-South Cooperation in Family Planning, Reproductive Health, Maternal and Child Health, Women Empowerment, Population and Development etc. Ms. Asa Torkelson assured PPD Executive Director Mr. Adnene Ben Haj Aissa that she is deeply committed to South-South Cooperation and will continue to promote PPD and South-South Cooperation wherever she will be working. The PPD Executive Director Mr. Adnene Ben Haj Aissa thanked Ms. Torkelson for all the support and assistance extended to PPD during her tenure in Bangladesh. Mr. Adnene Ben Haj Aissa handed over a Crest to Ms. Asa Torkelson as the token of recognition, appreciation and gratitude for continued support and assistance to PPD.
