25 June 2020: International Webinar, Covid19 – Public health and economic perspectives

Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) was declared as a world pandemic and public health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 30 January 2020. On June 3rd 2020, it was reported that there were more than 6.29 million COVID-19 confirmed cases in more than 200 countries which result in around 380,000 deaths.

Several efforts to break the chain of the COVID-19 transmission have been taken seriously by all countries in the world, one of which is through limiting physical interaction. This limitation of physical interaction is believed could slow down the spread of the pandemic; however, it poses challenges that impact directly on the lives of people and families such as challenges in health and social systems, as well as the economy. Furthermore, this situation also has a profound impact on the access to family planning information and services, as well as sexual and reproductive health. Responding to this condition, there is a need for a discussion aims to understand and analyze the current condition and its challenges. It is expected that this discussion could provide valuable insight for the improvement of Family Development, Population, and Family Planning Program (BanggaKencana) in pandemic situation.

In regard to those considerations and at the same time to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the National Population and Family Planning Board of Indonesia/ Badan Kependudukan dan keluarga Berencana Nasional (BKKBN) and the 27th National Family Day, the BKKBN in collaboration with the Asian Population Association (APA) and the Johns Hopkins Centre for Communication Program (JHCCP) will held an “International Webinar, Covid-19: Public health and economic perspectives “, on:
