Dissemination of the Reproductive Health Commodities Budget Tracking Report FY 2015/2016
PPD ARO organized a meeting for the launch of the Reproductive Health Commodities Budget Trucking report which was held on 4th August 2016 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. The ceremony was presided by Hon. Sarah Opendi, Minister of State for Health (Primary Health Care). Also in attendance were representatives from UNFPA Uganda Country Office, Dr. Placid Mihayo the Ministry of Health FP Focal Person and Patrick Mugirwa the PPD-ARO Programme Manager. The meeting brought together several Ugandan parliamentarians, members of the parliamentary commission on health as well as journalists and members of the Civil Society Organizations.

Ugandan Physician receives 2013 UN Population Award
Dr. Jotham Musinguzi, a strong advocate of reproductive health and family planning, was announced winner of the 2013 United Nations Population Award. Dr. Musinguzi is the Regional Director of Partners in Population and Development (PPD) Africa Regional Office (ARO) based in Kampala, Uganda.

“Africa’s Future: Improving the Health of Mothers and Children”: Every year, 265,000 mothers die in childbirth from preventable causes in sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr. Jotham Musinguzi, Regional Director of Partners in Population and Development Africa Regional Office (PPD ARO) spoke about maternal health in Africa at a United States Congressional briefing on 5 June 2009. The topic of the briefing was “Africa’s Future: Improving the Health of Mothers and Children” and was sponsored by the Association of Population Centers, Population Action International, Population Association of America, Population Council, Population Reference Bureau, Population Resource Center, and UCLA Bixby Center on Population and Reproductive Health. In his presentation, Dr. Musinguzi pointed out the effects of maternal mortality—-the lost lives, rights, and productivty—-and the range of effective, low-cost strategies to improve the health of mothers and children. “What is the message?” Muzinguzi asked in conclusion. “No woman should lose her life while giving life.” (Length: 8:54)
